Customer Rating: Summary: The Quality is there; but where is the success?!?! Comment:
It has been nearly 5 years since Brandy released the personal and emotive album "Afrodisiac". Afrodisiac received nearly flawless reviews from the media but the success of the singles and album sales left much to be desired. This also rings true for her 5th studio album; "Human". This record is flawless from start to end; showcasing Brandy's powerful contralto over the most beautiful, melodic musical compositions I have ever heard from ANY artist. Her first single "Right Here (Departed) "is truly spectacular and personal as the singer finds the perfect balance between Pop & R&B and even incorporates a bit of country into her vocal presentation resulting in a truly stellar song that should have sky rocketed straight up the billboard charts; but sadly only peaked at number 34 on the Hot 100 and performed poorly in overall audience impressions. What's worse is that the release of her album on Dec 9 proved to be a similar disaster; as she only scanned around 70,000 copies the first week! In a world where beauty and chart success equate to talent; (how sad) Brandy will be hard pressed to compete with the likes of Beyonce or Rihanna for the spotlight. Beyonce is currently dominating the charts with horrible music yet Brandy releases these brilliant albums time after time and no one pays her any attention! "Human " may not be the comeback album for Brandy in terms of sales and success; but any lover of quality music will not want to pass this up! Brandy has released an album that will undoubtedly delight new AND longtime fans and that will hopefully catch on the the mainstream audiences to garner the praise and accolades that it surely deserves. Brandy STILL has not gotten her due credit. The question is; when will she? Will she ever? We all wait with baited breath!
