Summary: Kayak Winter Storage
Comment: Very pleased with the quality of the hardware that came with the kit. The instructions were fairly easy to interpret and the whole thing went together in about an hour.
The photo accompanying this product is a bit deceiving since it will not permit the kayak to go as close to the ceiling as shown due to the size of the pully systems and the width of the straps that come with the kit. If the straps could be shortened (they come sewn to a fixed size) you could gain several more inches. As such, our kayak is hanging only about 5.5' off the floor. It's OK, but even knowing it's there doesn't stop you from banging your head every so often.
Good kit for the price. Certainly does the job.

Comment: Very disappointing. Directions were hard to understand and diagrams looked different from the actual parts. There were also typos in the instructions. Written instructions said to put the pulleys 6-8 inches apart but diagram showed 6-8 feet apart. Bolts require an odd size socket wrench not found in most socket wrench sets. Kayak sling belts were too long causing them to hang too low so we replaced the belts and didn't use the ones that came with this kit.

There's no such thing as not enough room for another kayak, canoe, or ladder. Store your kayak overhead and out of the way. Smooth pulleys and latches make lifting even the heavy kayaks super easy. The exclusive rope locking mechanism prevents unwanted release and can suspend one product - 100 lb. load limit. Please note, you can mount this item as pictured on a 2 x 4 and screw the 2 X 4 to the joist or mount it right to the joist itself.
