Summary: A Good Christmas CD that could be better
Comment: I am a HUGE Fernando Ortega fan who has found his music to be a tremendous blessing and ministry to my soul. When I heard he was preparing a Christmas CD I was psyched!! When I actually bought the cd and listened to it it was definitely typical Fernando. The instrumentation is simple but beautiful, and the CD is top quality. I was disappointed at the length; the 10 songs clock in at just over 39 minutes which, in this digital age seems very short!! 3 of the 10 songs are instrumentals, and 2 of the songs are re-recordings of "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence" and "Jesus King of Angels", songs I have loved but that I've not thought of as being particularly "incarnation-centered."
This is a very good CD that will be a blessing to you, but it could have been so much more!!! Hopefully he will do another Christmas CD later in his career.

Summary: What you'd expect from Fernando for Christmas
Comment: Fernando's reverent style of vocal and a few wonderful instrumental pieces invoke the Spirit, yes, the Spirit of an expectant Christmas. New arrangements that only Fernando can write will be a new experience from the noise of the season.
Bless this gift and the gift heralded by Fernando.

Summary: Beautiful arrangements
Comment: This is a beautiful, contemplative album, deserving time and space this Christmas season. 'Jesus, King of Angels' brought me to tears -- it's a wonderful Advent reminder of Christ's light in the midst of what's dark and broken! The picture on the cover is a lovely piece of New Mexican folk art.

Summary: My new favorite Christmas CD
Comment: I purchased five new Christmas CDs this year and this one is my favorite of the bunch. Fernando's voice brings a sense of peace and calmness to this busy time of year. It makes me listen and meditate on whose birthday we are celebrating.
