Summary: Haier LHLT71 TV
Comment: We ordered this TV to replace a Trinity 7" portable TV that only had NTSC tuning, and no longer would be very portable if we had to use the converter box. This Haier TV was very easy to set up. One surprise was the clear pickup of stations with the screw-on antenna that came with the unit. We are about 30 miles away from the broadcast towers in Chicago. However, when this TV is moved from room to room, we usually just hook it up to the antenna outlet and get excellent reception.

Comment: I am very pleased with this TV. The picture is very sharp and setup is very easy. I do agree with other reviewers that the single pole antenna is woefully inadequate. After hooking it up to a basic set of rabbit ears, the local TV stations are quite clear. As of this time, I have not tried to operate it on battery alone for longer than five minutes to test it. I would highly recommend this unit for value for the price.

Summary: Might not be the right one for my area
Comment: I bought this TV, based on other reviews that I read here, to use when our power goes out (which happens pretty regularly). Therefore it won't be hooked up to cable, just used with the battery and it's antenna. As it stands now, I can only get one channel instead of the 6 I should be able to get. I received a Terk amplified indoor antenna for Christmas, but haven't had time to try it yet. I'm hoping it will do the job, but if it doesn't, I'll have to return the TV. The TV itself is very nice looking, and the one channel I get has amazing color and clarity.
I have a very old portable TV that works just fine on batteries and it's rabbit ear antenna, so I was expecting this TV to work equally as well. As of Feb., the old one won't work any more...the reason I bought the new TV. I'll try thr new antenna soon and write another review if I have success.

Remote could use a "volume" control. Some stations are good, others not. Maybe in February when all go digital it will be better. Only used mornings while make-up is applied. Pretty good for the price.

Summary: EXCELLENT LITTLE TV, but colors are a little muted...
Comment: We bought this TV (the Haier HLT71) for my Mother-in-law who likes to be able to have a small TV to take from her kitchen to her office room in her house. And, with the new manditory digital signal taking effect in Feb., we didn't want her to have to mess around with constantly having to connect & disconnect a digital converter box, as this TV has a built-in digital tuner! It was very easy to set up using the on-screen menu, and the picture is very clear. However, the colors are not as vivid as her old, portable, analog TV. I tried to turn up the color adjustment, but it does not make much of a difference. So, I had to turn the color adjustment up all the way to make any difference at all! This is why I gave this TV only 4 stars out 5. Don't get me wrong though, it still has a very good picture, and the convenience of having such a small, lightweight (like a feather!!), full-featured TV like this, definitely out-weighs the cons! The set includes a built-in antenna, which seems to do alright in the greater Philadelphia area where my Mom-in-law lives, but you can always add a nicer antenna, or hook it up to cable/satellite for better reception. It also comes with a convenient remote control that is easy to use, a home adaptor/charger, a car adaptor/charger, and a rechargeable battery that says it lasts for about 2 hours on a charge!! That's awesome!!! Very nice if you don't want to miss your show when "nature calls"! LOL!! Or if you want to take it outside to watch! It also has a built-in stand that pops out from the back of the unit so you can prop it up on a table to watch it. And, it has a very nice black, rubberized coating that protects it should it ever get bumped a little. I tell you what, after proofreading my own review here, I think I might just have to go and buy one of these little TV's for myself!! We paid about $123.00 for my mother-in-law's TV here on Amazon. Great deal!!! Buy one, and ENJOY!!
