Summary: The Best Ever
Comment: This was the best video game magazine ever and now it's gone. I read this magazine starting in my childhood up to now, early in my adulthood. I will never read another game magazine because there can only be one. I guess I'll just read back issues for the rest of my life. It feels like I lost a dear friend today, RIP EGM.

Summary: EGM HAS BEEN CANCELLED!! JAN 09 ISSUE IS THE LAST ONE!!
Comment: Yesterday, the company that owns Electronic Gaming Monthly was sold. They immediately announced that this magazine was cancelled effective immediately and the current issue on the newsstands now, January 09, would be the last. For this reason you should NOT SUBSCRIBE to this magazine. The new company will be focusing on the video game web sites they own instead of print media such as EGM. I'm assuming Amazon.com will be removing this from the site soon but I just wanted to let everyone know. You can google this in case you do not believe what I'm saying. EGM was a great magazine while it lasted. Loved it.

Summary: The Best
Comment: Quite simply the best video game magazine in production these days. Don't forget to listen to their weekly podcasts on their webpage. They add so much additional content and no extra price.

Summary: A very high quality magazine
Comment: I've been reading Electronic Gaming Monthly for several years, and it is truly one of the best gaming mags out there. The writing is phenomenal; the writer's manage to put humor and detailed information into their articles.

Many other magazines have sold out in recent years, giving better reviews to game's whose publishers pay more for advertising and such, but not EGM.

If you want a high quality magazine about video gaming and all of its attachments, buy this one.

Summary: How the mighty have fallen
Comment: Back in the late 80s/early 90s, this mag used to rock, and I would read it religiously. I kind of lost interest in it once I got internet access in the mid-90s. However, they were recently doing some sort of promotion where they would send you like 12 issues for free, so I said what the heck. Once the issues started rolling in, I quickly realized that even for the price of free, this mag is hardly worth the paper it's printed on. The issues are like 1/4 the size that they used to be back in the magazine's glory days. And with the advent of the internet, it is a wonder how printed magazines like this stay afloat. By the time a new issue is released with a big preview, most of the info has been on the web for several weeks and is already old news. Plus, there are a million different sites/podcasts where you can read reviews, plus see videos of gameplay footage - something that magazines like this just can't/won't offer. Oh well.. I guess some people still need something to read while on the crapper. As for me, I wish there was a way I could stop this mag from showing up in my mailbox. Even for a price tag of nothing, it is a waste of my time.

Editorial Reviews:

EGM is the bible for those who demand more information than anybody else about games and hardware platforms. EGM's reviews, the heart and soul of modern gaming magazines, are legendary. The most respected and credible in the industry, gamers have driven EGM's circulation up to make it the largest of any multiplatform videogame magazine.
