Summary: Best anime ever.
Comment: Omg, this anime rules O_O It's soo beautiful, the art, the mood, the story.. the music is great as well. I think the episode Delicious is one of the best, it's very haunting combined with the beautiful music. The thing is, this was originally a manga series, but only a bit was turned into a 4 series OAV. So yer missing out on alot of the story. I advise you to buy the manga ... if you can read Japanese. :)

Summary: Simply Amazing
Comment: I've seen anime before but nothing like this. The beauty of the artwork is combined with the overall mystery. I don't really see the anime as true horror because the violence is done is a somewhat subdued way. Count D runs a petshop that specializes in giving people what they think they want. That may turn out to be different than what they truly have.There are many plotbunnies that are not explained. Who is Count D? He refers to his grandfather owning the petshop and he's there just to run it. What is he? He consistently refers to others, especially to the Detective Leon, who believes he's illegal, as 'humans'. One definately gets the impression that he isn't human, but what he is, is not implied in the story. The story leaves a lot to the imagination, but what you do have is individual stories that stand alone and show the result of not doing what you are supposed to, that one will pay for the mistakes they've made and that honesty is always the best policy.
There are also some shonen ai tones in the story. Count D is a feminized male and is constantly harassed, often in a good way, by another more masculine male. The potential for romance between those two is easily imagined.
The whole anime is one of the best I've seen and does well in the brief individual story plots of each episode. The antagonizing character conflicts between the detective and the count carry the whole thing through as each episode progresses.

Summary: Dark, creepy, great anime
Comment: I bought this anime because I saw a preview of it. I was pleasantly surprised when I watched it, because I didn't expect it to be this great. The Count owns a pet shop in Chinatown that specializes in unusual pets. This first tape is all about illusion. Pets are bought and people mistake them for people, or in Jason Gray's case, mermaids. Leon, the detective, is a great character, and the comic relief. The only thing I can even think to say I didn't like about this movie, was the style used to draw the Count in the first episode. All in all this is a great anime that goes deeper than I thought it would.

Summary: Meat and Potatoes anime for the goth fan
Comment: There have been many dark and alluring anime that have been released. No, Im not talking about hentai. I mean real spooky and dark anime. I had high hopes for this one and was a little dissapointed. Most of the show is spent on watching people suffer. Now I don't mind seeing people die once in awhile, but watching them die in agony isn't real fun to watch. And the romance in the second episode is not done entirely well. However, the brilliant artwork and haunting yet very beautiful music keep me coming back. If you like horror shows (and can put up with it beeing a little chessy at times) then pick up a copy of this. You might like it.
