Customer Rating: Summary: first time Comment: This is the first Danielle Steele book I have ever read, however, I listened to this one on tape and I got what I expected. She writes like she is telling a story to mentally challenged people, repeating constantly, using grade school metaphors (fresh as a rose). I made it through the 4th cd and it was torture. Sorry, I think she is a writer for the very simple minded-
Customer Rating: Summary: Amazing Grace Comment: Amazing Grace When the book did not come on time, I contacted the seller, and she sent another copy which just arrived.
Customer Rating: Summary: Another Disappointing Read Comment: This book had a promising start. The introduction promised a compelling storyline, but like Steel's most recent books, I got to the end and wondered what happened to the great story I was promised?
I have been an avid fan of Danielle Steel since I was about 14 years old and started reading my great-aunt's romance novels when I ran out of my own literature to read. I've been hooked ever since. Her books invoke every emotion under the sun. They've made me laugh, cry, angry, frustrated, joyous...you name it.
Her new books just aren't cutting it anymore. They've left me feeling disappointed and wanting more. I'd even go as far as to say it doesn't even feel like it's one of her novels. I love her older novels, and I will read them over and over because they are that amazing. And I will be a fan of her's forever, because when Steel was good, she was THE best. But her recent novels have been an utter disappointment.
Customer Rating: Summary: Likeable Characters- Good Storyline Comment: Enjoyable book. If you enjoy this genre, without expecting great literature, then you will like this book. I like soap operas and JD Robb- if that provides any indication of taste. If you want believeable and realistic, or classic literature, skip this one and many others of its ilk.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Pleasent Read Comment: On a night that should be perfect and Earthquake shakes the city of San Francisco and the lives of three women who are successful but somewhat unfulfilled. Sarah Sloan, Melanie Free and Maggie Kent are sent on a new journey after the rubble settles in the city. All three of their lives are turned upside down and they have to face things that they never thought possible. Each looking for a way to live life with Amazing Grace.
As a long time fan of Ms. Steele, I found this read pleasant but not as endearing as some of her other titles. Amazing Grace delves into three very different woman in three very different places in their lives. The way they deal with tragedy, life altering circumstances are by turns inspiring and almost predictable. As I stated before this is a nice read but if you are looking for an emotional heart tugging read you may find yourself a little let down here.

On a warm May night in San Francisco, the Ritz-Carlton ballroom shimmers with crystal and silver as a glittering, celebrity-studded crowd gathers for a charity dinner dance. The evening is perfect - until, just minutes before midnight, the room begins to sway. Glass shatters. And as the lights go out, people begin to scream….
In the earthquake’s aftermath, the lives of four strangers will converge.… Sarah Sloane, the beautiful wife of a financial whiz, watches her perfect world fall to pieces…. Grammy-winning singer Melanie Free, the event’s headliner, comes to a turning point in her life and career…. Photographer Everett Carson, a former war correspondent whose personal demons have demoted him to covering society parties, finds new purpose amid the carnage…and Sister Maggie Kent, a nun who normally works in jeans and high-tops with the homeless, searches through the rubble - and knows instantly that there is much work to be done….
As the city staggers back to life, a chain reaction of extraordinary events will touch each of the survivors.… For Sarah, it begins with the discovery of a crime and a betrayal, then a strength she never knew she had. For Melanie, volunteering at a refugee camp will open new worlds of possibility. And Everett will be shaken by the unlikely relationship he forges with Maggie, who helps him rebuild his shattered life - and upends her own in the process. But as a year passes, and the anniversary of the earthquake approaches, more surprises are in store - as each discovers the unexpected gifts in a tragedy’s wake…and the amazing grace of new beginnings.
